Default 97' gsr tranny vs 99' jdm type r tranny - need some opinions

I can trade in my gsr tranny rite now with 85k miles on it plus $500 bux w/labor for a jdm type r tranny.

Do you guys think this is a good deal?

The trans is coming out of a 93 civic coupe with the full jdm r swap and it has a supercharger aswell.

I want to boost my gsr down the road someday too, so which trans would be better in the long run?

I would say yes for the 4.7FD and the LSD, especially with a SC.

Boosted GSR will run out of gears pretty quick with the JDM final drive. Can someone take a swag at what speed he'll see redline in 5th? 120-125 MPH?

What do you do with the car? Drag, autoX, HPDE?

I'd imagine the LSD would offset the problems of a lower top speed. What's a boosted GSR redline at? If it's 8K rpm, top speed in 5th would still be 146mph. Only if he's pooping out at 7000rpm does it become any form of issue, when top speed would be 127mph.

or
http://www.autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi
with
http://www.angelfire.com/mech/....html for gear ratios. There was a better site for ratios, but I can't find it right now.

Thanks for the links.

So, 140 MPH with JDM final drive of 4.7, and 8000 RPM, right? Versus 160 with a 94+ GSR tranny.

~. I can't see any reason for needing to go faster than 140. Even the longest straights on tracks I know of wouldn't allow more than that for a Teg, b00sted or not. Keep in mind as well that this is the GEARING limits. Aerodynamically, I think a Teg can't go much faster than 145-150 anyway.

Definitely.

ITR 1st, 2nd, 3rd and FD is greater than GSR. 4th & 5th are the same. Plus of course the ultimate LSD.

Road America has a couple of half-mile straights. Some Rovals have long straights. It depends on how b00sted the teg is.
