Default [xm] satellite radio users...

Anybody using a xm or sirius satellite radio, i'm wondering where you have your antennaes placed? I know they instruct you to put it on your roof, thats where i had it last year, but i dont like to advertise like that. Its floating around in my car right now, either on the back shelf or on my dashboard, and it doesnt get great reception, goes dead often.

I was considering putting it up in the headliner, but then it would be pointing down? Don't know how effective it would be up there? Anybody do this?

Post up some ideas for me

i do installations for a living.

the trouble with satalittle radio is, unlike GPS, theres fewer satilites for the unit to aquire signal, therefore it is mandatory that the unit have a 15 degree line of sight to the sky, 360 degrees around.

that means no where inside the car, since on the dash the roof of the car and even the wiper blades will interupt your signal.

on the headliner wont work because of what i just told you as well, 15 degrees above the horizon, all the way around, complete unobstructed.

basically, where your washer squirter is the only sensable place. you can do a good job and make it clean, but as for your theft concerns, theres nothing that can be done for you there.

its also possible to run the wire along the windsheild trim, and do a center mount above the windsheild. this also looks clean when done right, but its still outside the car... sorry :-/

Terk makes a glass mount, but its huge and ugly and cant be used on tints and i really hate them.

Basically just get a slim low profile magnet mount, and call it a day.
