Default Had the b16a for almost 2 yrs. time to go faster, need suggestions

as the topic states ive had a b16a in my 91 hatch for almost 2 yrs now with basic bolt ons. Its a blast to drive but i wanna go faster.

I have 2 ideas on the route to go down, see what you guys think.

1st idea- build the current engine. I was thinking ctr pistons and buddyclub spec3+ cams with full valvetrain.

2nd idea- A guy has a type R bottom end for sale, so my b16 head on the type R bottom end with buddyclubspec3+cams and full valvetrain.

Building my current engine would probably be cheaper but i would have to deal with taking the engine to a machine shop and getting the pistons put in.(i dont think i could do that myself)

any ideas on the compression ratios of both setups with a stock headgasket?

Lets hear what everyone has to say, i dont have internet at home so I wont be able to respond quickly so leave some helpful advise.

check out c-speedracing.com they have a compression calculator where you can do it yourself by choosing pistons/block/head. its pretty cool. how many miles on the itr block? if you rebuild you current block are you gonna replace everything like bearings and all? or you just gonna swap pistons? IMO get the itr block slap it in and keep ur b16 block as a spare. just my 2cents..... good luck on ur build bro

Thanks for the advice guys, keep it coming

Im going to go check out the ITR shortblock and talk to the guy on sunday.

Im trying to think of all the stuff i would need to get this to work, here is the things i've got so far.
headgasket
Timing belt (im guessing I should use a ITR one?)
ARP headbolts

What else would I need to change over my head to the new block?

Build a b20... 84mm bore * 89 mm stroke.. put your b16 head and tranny on it and go from there. If there is no replacement for displacement go with the 2 liter and belt out 150 + ft lbs torque

endyn 11.5 pistons
eagle rods
balanced stock crank
new rod bolts, head studs, bearings etc.. and you're

send it to these guys. check out this build

im gonna build on my current platform and see how that goes however I would probably try to get a b18c block with a good crank instead of an r bottom end and piece together a nice all motor beauty and not have to worry about any downtime... im talking aftermarket rods, girdle, the works.
