Default The joys of REsto

Since everyone is doing restorations on their Efs, I thought that should share my little project as well. I've only started and don't plan on finishing any time soon. Maybe in 5 years.

Well as all you Bob Villas of cars out there know, you find the worst secrets of these rust buckets when everything is stripped. Mine, I'm sad to say, is the same as any one that gets snow for a few months in a year. Here is the damage.

Driver's side rear quarter

Just behind the passenger door

The car

The QUESTION (for tech purposes)

I found this damage on the bottom of the driver side door. Not sure what happened. My guess is that it was from a previous accident and the shop that did the "body work" did a half assed job. Would this have bent the frame? Can I just hammer it back into place or does it need to be cut out and a new piece welded?

And an example of a "proper" body work. Notice the gap?

Wish me luck

I just saw your post on TCC. Nice cars. But I would really rather restore this one. I am not in a rush at all. It's only to keep me busy when i'm bored.

If I do decide to buy another one it would only be a shell. If you know of any *CHEAP* rolling shells (without rust) LMK.
