hey guys, i have a quick question. i was going home from work at 10 PM and an opossum ran in front of my car. i slammed the brakes but still ran it over at like 35 mph. it didnt go under my tires or anything. it went under my 5th gen. lowered likr 1.5 inches. do you guys think that could have done some serious damage?

Besides doing damage do your lip or something, I highly doubt an opposum would be able to dent any heavy duty metal parts that are down there, MAYBE a dented downpipe, but that's pushin it

 

small animals are not that bad to run over..well, compared to other things. they are still soft. it would be bad if u ran over something that was hard. take a down time and beat it on ur head. i am pretty sure your head would break before you dented the downpipe.

i can also kill an opossum with my bare hands..they are not very hard.

 

You should probably be fine. I've done it before about 4 years back, and all it did was cause my turn signal bulb to fall out of socket. I looked back, and the it was still alive though...Not to long ago, about 5-6 months ago, I hit 1 dog, and another one hit me all at the same time and the one I accidently hit, broke my turn signal, but the one that hit me, ran into my wheel. All and all, they both survived

mmmhm....compared to a rock maybe???i hit a rock on the freeway monday night....bent my wheel pretty bad, tire was destroyed, and some other part was bent(i forgot the name )

 

i ran over a cat before and no damage. The dumb ***** saw me coming then 5 feet before i get to where it was, it tried to run accross the street. I slamed the brakes and still hit the bitch, but the cat was still alive because it ran away after i ran over it.

for some reason all cats do this. they wait until the last minute then run accross. its like they're testing you or something. everytime i see a cat i go slow just in case.

I ran over a dead racoom once while dropped on Tein SS (finger gap all around). I felt the bone crushing.

Do not worry about it. If you do, jack the car up and take a look. Just make sure to use jack stand so you don't kill yourself if the jack gave way.

I hear you man! A cat once did that to a car in front of me. It was like trying to commit suicide. It ran right under the car while it was going 20mph, got hit, rolled several times and continued on it's way.

It was probably testing to see how many lives it had left. *shrug*

I'd watch those teeth.

There are so many canopy roads around here I hit opossums and armadillos all the time, dumbass animals. But I would rather hit the **** out of an opossum rather than end up on the side of the road.

Damn cats, one of my friends hit one on his way to my apt about 6 months ago. his sway bar knocked it out, and then the exhaust hangars (was hung upside down) stabbed right through him, and he unknowingly dragged it about 5 miles to my apt. No damage to his car, but it was the grossest/funniest thing i've seen in a while.

Dude...thats hardcore. Were you just walking in the woods one day and along came an opossum? And as it crossed your path you thought "hmmm...I wonder if I could kill that opossum with my bare hands?" So you chased it down (shouldnt have been too hard since it was probably playing dead) and ripped its head off. Then, hands still bloodied, you thought to yourself "those opossums arent very hard...not very hard at all."

This is the funniest/saddest thread I have ever read. My buddy who works at a toyota dealership had to work on a car that stunk really bad. Ended up a cat was wrapped around the catalytic convertor and was burned to a crisp. Nothing but bones and some fur, but it was still gripping the pipe like no other.

i killed an opossum once..or well, twice if u count 15 minutes ago. i beat the first one to death with a stick because it was in my backyard making all this noise. it was homecoming night sophomore year.

tonight, as i was driving home from bowling, there was a dead opossum on the floor. i didnt see it till it was too late. it was still uncrushed. it was just laying on the road lifeless. i ran over the thing and i can feel it crush. it wasnt the best thing. glad there was not blood all over my tirewell or anything.

i am pretty sure i would fight an opossum barehanded if i wanted to. would it be a smart thing? no. would i come out of the fight without a single scratch? no. would i kill it? yes

find an opossum without rabies or any other random disease that will land me in the hospital or some infection and i will fight it for 100 dollars. hands only.
