Default shaved handles... In the works... Price? Opinion?

Ok, I am ready to be flamed by those who are close minded, but here goes.

I have always believed that we should be using more of the old hot-rod tricks on our hondas and "sport compacts". I have just installed my autoloc door poppers, and took it to all the local body shops for prices for door handle shaving. Quotes from $1,300 to $840 for both doors (welded, not bondoed) and repainting of just needed areas.

Best quote for shaving EVERYTHING including gas tank door (I would relocate it behind the driver side tail light) $3,500 for rain gutters, moldings, handles, antenna, and fix a few dings on the roof, then respray.

Hate if you will, but I think clean and smooth is sexy and I don't like to see extra vents, holes and other such "rice". I have always enjoyed the old hot rods, and we can learn from their many years of automotive modification.

Flame away...

I would leave the side mouldings cos Civics look weird as hell without them...the side looks really broad and plain. I'd just get the JDM thin mouldings and paint em, throw em on. I'd also leave the gutters to prevent the car from looking like it's wearing some kind of helmet, haha.

But as for the door handles and gas tank, why not? They don't serve any visual function, so if you've got the money and that's what you wanna spend it on, get rid of em!

You are in the wrong place. H-T hates on custom cars.

Shave it all. If you don't drive it all the time, shaved handles become a pain when the battery dies.

That's not a bad price if the shop does awesome work. I just had my car resprayed that included the engine bay, shaved moldings, antenna, emblems, front lip and semi shaved door handles. Had them also get rid of the door dings and some minor hale damage. Also painted the door jams. and filled the holes where the side markers use to be. I didn't opt to shave the gas door. I like that the way it is. All this on my 95 EJ1 for $3,200.
