Default Modifying Shift Linkage for a Rear Motor application

Ok, this may sound a little strange but i think its gonna be badass....

Im putting a z1 block/y8 head with a cx tranny in a go kart i have lying around.... DaX is helping me out and we're pretty much stuck on how to modify the shift linkage... We have a few ideas but none are too concrete.

Does anyone have any advice/ideas/pics/pointers on how to do this?

Honda already makes a go-cart, its called a CRX..

Maybe thing about trying to use cables for shifting.. If you reverse the shift linkage then your shifting pattern is going to be mirrored..

lol, but this go kart is gonmna weigh 700lbs with driver. hehe

combine with the hmt setup thats going on it and voila... a 50hp 700lb rocket (deathtrap)

We could look into the cable thing... but if the tranny has one of the rod linkages... how would i go about modifying the tranny for cable use?

50hp???? ****, I would boost the **** out of that motor and make it more of a death trap....

Welding some type of rod on to the shaft comming out of the tranny would allow a cable to move it side to side and another cable mounted to the front of the shaft would make it go in and out.. Get it.. If not find a pic of the shifter shaft on a tranny and ill mock it up for you..

lol, i meant 150.... t-25, dsm smic, dsm bov, open downpipe. uberdata....

Im going down to his house with the cart this weekend so we'll look at it..

the shaft has to move left to right... so we'd have to rig a cable to either side.... hmmm

I guess its gonna take a cable shifter mechanism from something like an h22 then.. and the using pullies in some sort of arrangement on the tranny side of things to get it to work

out comes the scribble pad, lol

Have the cable for the left/right movement attach perpendicular to the shaft (you probably will have to make an extension of some sort), and have the up/down cable attach directly straight to it.
