need info on headers
Well... my exhaust manifold is busted..a new manifold from the dealer is $195.. i can get some headers + cat for $119.... so i am thinking of getting that...
Junk yard is out of the question for getting the part....need it new..(just my preference)
I have a 95 accord ,EX,coupe,250k!
what should i be looking for in a header? i saw this description on ebay
T-304 stainless steel, Mandrel bent tubing, CNC Machined Flanges.......
but then i noticed that it was about 15lbs lighter than another one that was being advertised...i would assume more weight means thicker pipes...?
also..what's gonna happen to my gas mileage.. i hear i can expect 15-20 hps but how many mpgs do i loose?
hit me up wih all advise you can give me..
thanks in advance guys

Weight would also come from the material the header is made of. 15-20 would be high number for crappy headers. those number sounds like smsp/hytech headers which you won't find for under 800/1200 probably. you'd be lucky if you got like 5hp over stock with cheap headers. Remember you pay for what you get. If you plan on nicer mods in the future, go deeper into the ole pocket book now.
does anyone agree with what flight just said?....i've seen a couple postings on here where guys asked for bolt-ons that woudl give decent geain in HP that were supposed to be in expensive....looking for ideas
I've heard that aftermarket headers don't offer much advantage over OEM EX headers. (at least for the a6) not sure if that's true for b1 or not.
They are correct. You will not see more than 5 Hp gain, probably 2-3 if anything over the stock EX. In fact, you would probably see more HP by polishing the exhaust ports before you put the new header on. As far as gas mileage, if you do get more HP, you will gain MPG slightly. I would check with Kteller, he is a member here and on accordinglydone, I know he specializes in exhaust parts. I beleive it is http://www.kteller.com.
