what size studs to use for exhaust manifolds?

what size studs to use for exhaust manifolds?
i am going to be using a crp manifold on my ls.. what length studs should i use to bolt to the head? i need the shortest possible so it doesnt hit the runners.. also, thread pitch is 8x1.25 correct?
