ok, i hate wiring. what i have is a 89 crx si. i just bought the thing to part out, but when i drove it the engine ran really well. so now i might want to keep the engine and drop it in somthing else. when i started stripping the car i noticed that it had an alarm system on it tons of wires but they really didnt seem to go anywhere. there where only a few wires that cut into the wiring harness and i could pretty much tell where they go just by matching the colors after. so i remove the alarm and connect all the wires back where they matched up to, all the indicator lights come on now, but the starter does not turn over, and the tach goes upto 3 rpm and stays there untill i turn the key back off, even though the engine is not running. my plan is to find a 4 door civic and use the harness and drop the engine in, and i want to get the wiring all back to normal before i pull it out of the crx. what is my problem. please somone smart figure this out for me.

Anyone know what would cause the tach to sit at 3k?

yeah the tach thing i have never even heard of

 

The 3k RPM thing could be Throttle Position Sensor. But with the engine not running I don't know if the TPS would still do that.
