maybe a dumb question....but please help if you can.
i have a jdm gsr. i'm ready to bump the compression, and most compression calculators say that with a 1 layer hg i'll have 11.1:1 CR. I was thinking that if i had that thin of a HG i'd need to have my head milled to ensure even contact in case of warpage.
here's the dumb part. I was thinking of buying a spare gsr head and building it, but the problem is that they're freakin expensive. So, could i have a machine shop mill the head without taking it apart...i mean leaving it assembled? then put it back on there? The goal is having as little down time as possible, since it's my daily driver?
don't flame, just try to help a fellow h-t member out, and remember i'm poor.

ok....i may be going a different direction. I have a chance to pick up a b16 head for pretty cheap, but i know that the GSR head makes a little more power. But having a spare head i could take my time and build it right.
mild port
milled a little
weld in quench pads
of course valvetrain, cams etc.
i think this would make up for the slight disadvantage in burn, flow, and compression that the b16 head has.
