ITR Mid-pipe Install on 95 GSR Sedan: Impressions
People ask all the time about this so here goes. I successfully installed a itr mid-pipe (the axle back I had already on) this weekend. Total cost to extend to fit my sedan was $60 at a Meineke. They just added about 8in of pipe AHEAD of the itr pipe at the cat. This way, there is no need to cut and reweld the ITR stainless steel unit which is very nice.
Driving impressions: Same noise level, maybe 1db louder. Seems to pull harder slightly and throttle response is improved. (we are talking slightly). but up top it really seems to pull nicer. HP figures? who knows. maybe 1-3hp.
Those of you wondering how i can tell such slight improvements beware, I have been driving my GSR since the day it was born. Believe me, I know this car.
Enjoy

Jabroni,
I recently did a similar install... Type R exhaust and DC 4/2/1 header.
I noticed a deeper tone in the exhaust note.
3rd gear is when I notice that it pulls harder: 60-90 mph
One of these days I'll dyno it.

So if I buy an ITR cat back, they will need to add 8in? Is your header the normal length for a GSR? I too have a sedan, everytime I ask about the ITR swap to a sedan, I get blank stares.
Cru_jones: Yes it will fit. You need to extend the tip (on the axle back portion) and add a bit of pipe to the front of the mid-pipe (directly after the cat). At least, this is all i had to do for my 95 sedan.
Hope this helps.
