d15z1 head on a d16z6 lower end?
I have a d15z1 head and according to my manual, I should be able to put the d15z1 head on the d16z6 lower end and it should work, since the bore is the same and they both come from vtech engines. The only difference is the valve springs and the cams. I also might do this and keep the d15z1 cam in for the gas mileage. I also have the cpu for the d15z1 (vx). This is because I travel long miles to work in a straight line and I want to go on long trips this summer and with the price of gas, I could save a bunch. When the time is right, I would switch back to the d16z6 cam. By the way, my d16z6 head is warped and this is why I am considering it.
Well, I do think the z1 head is NOT vtec. NOT vtech.
If the z1 head is not vtec than this will decrease your compression ratio considerably to like 8.x:1 and you will not have vtec, obviously. A lot of people do this for boosted engines. Yes, you can put the z1 head on the z6 block. Use your vx ecu.

the z1 is basically the american d15b but as stated, with emissions all over it. it should mate up to the z6 block. it is vtec. it is sitting in my garage.
