whats wrong with my lude
ok ill start with my car specs,
1997 lude, 64 000 miles on it,
mods: AEM cold air,
DC header,
APEX-I N-1 exhaust,
VAFC
PROBLEM: my car is cold and hasent moved since the night before lets say;
i start driving, temp gradually rises , everything is normal....
but here is when it gets meesed up...i get on the highway, not too far from my house and i dont over do it, i push the throtle to about 60% and i dont shift over 4k untill i know the engine is properlly warmed up, during that time where im accelerating my car tends to *buck* or *ping*, i loose alot of power and the RPM dosent rise fast at all, again im not @ WOT, im just 60% not going past 4k rpm,
(its like if it leans out)
after 15 minute or more car is finaly warm and gauge tells me its @ normal temp, i try punching it WOT 100% goes good untill i hit 6k RPM then the same *bucking* feeling and RPM does not rise fast at all big loss of power again....
after driving for like 1/2 and hour or maybe more, i try again and it works fine, 100% WOT, and going all the way to 8k with out anyproblem...
whats wrong with my car?
sometimes it feels like i have lots of low end and other times it feels like i have a civic engine in there...
thanks ive been trying to figure this one out for ever!

i had a CEL said vtec mal function, checked it out, VAFC was not plugged in right but i got that done a while ago...
didnt do leak down test...what would that tell me exactly thanks?

Assuming you have the VAFC wired properly (I would get that double checked again, but I'm not convinced since it works after a long while) I would check the thermostat. Maybe your thermostat is bad, not letting the car warm up properly, or completely until after a long period of driving.

Sounds like your problem is with your VAFC. Did anyone tune it?

uhh ohhh...my vafc was tunned, but then a wire was not connected so the CEL was on, so i had bad engine response, so like an idiot i fuked around with the vafc, and accidently reset my tuned settings, so everyting is back to "0"....i dont see how this could affect my car since everything is at 0? so i basically dont know because when tuned the CEL was on AND engine was going bad, then CEL turned off by connecting wires ok, but everything reset to 0....maybe thats it? im defenitly doing the leak down
thanks

what type of mods do you have done to the car? if you have cams or anything in the motor and its untuned thats why you are bogging all over the damn place.
Id also replace the thermo just for ***** and giggles.

i think i m going to take the VAFC out of there, i dont really need it, and im not going to mod else more really i dont know kinda looks cool in the car though but ill see, ill let you guys know whats up thanks
after reading a few threads here and there, it seem that my problem is the Bogging at around 4k rpm and 6k
some suggested cleaning the IACV and maybe EGR vavle..
could anyway show me where those are located
thanks

All I had to do was search under "IACV" and I found this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1092022
The IACV is located on the front of your IM (Intake Manifold). Right in the middle. You will need to unscrew a couple of screws to be able to open it up to get to the screen. If it's clogged up, clean it up with some carb/brake cleaner. Watch out though, don't flood it. And don't push the screen into the hole or you're screwed.
You can search for the EGR yourself.

not trying to jack, but closely related. When car is heated up and just normally driving with a/c on, if i come to a light after a few minutes the revs will drop almost to the point of dying out and will jump up and down to 1500. After a minute it will calm down and be normal but five minutes later it will start again. If i turn a/c off everything is fine. Could it be related to IACV?

ok just went to the garage yesteday to see a buddy of mine,
we checked a few things, i had a bad leak where the distributor is, and man was it messy there....
took the distributor off, cleaned it, put some cylicone all around, and put it back in there...one leak solved..after looking around more, we checked out the VTEC soleinoid, no leaks from there...but cyliconed that bitch just in case..
now about my power issues not always occuring...and acting weird and ****...
big fuking crack right through the coil pack.....last but not least...just gave the timming belt a look, and there is a hole in it....yes a hole.. punched right in the middle of the belt...wtf...so basicaly my car is sitting in the garage...im pissed to see that the previous owner did not take much care of this car,
this week im getting new straps all round, new water pump, spark plugs, coil, and will give the distributor a chance if it leaks that will go too...
hope that will solve all my problems,

you mean your car was leaking, or did it bog or hesistate at 3k rpm and at WOT@ 6k rpm?
