Default Leaking Oil, Special Plug?

Hey all. A few years back I went to an oil lube place and they said my oil pan was stripped, and they put a special plug (temporary plug?) in there that you can't take all the way out to drain it. A few weeks back I changed the oil myself, didn't pull the plug out all the away, drained, and plugged it up. Then I noticed it was leaking a bit, so I tried to tighten it more, but couldn't. Since the plug is stripped, is there another solution, such as another type of plug I can use to keep the oil in the car without having to change the oil pan? Thanks, I have a '87 Accord with 175k miles on it, and I want to try to keep it as cheap as possible.

nope if the threads are stripped for the pan your gonna have to get a new one unless you get a tap and die set and tap new threads in the pan either way your going to have to drain the oil sometime
I would just get a new pan

i just had the same problem on my eg sedan. research different types of plugs, including piggybacks, oversized, etc etc. i eventually just took the damn pan out and put in another used one that was in better condition. best way is to go to pick n pull, probaly get one for 10-40 dollars. or get on ebay for around $80 plus shipping, and you dont have to do the extra work of pulling the pan from another car. since you have an old car, you should be able to find a used pan somewhere pretty easily. and if youre interested in saving money, def do it yourself, just make sure u have some wd40or pb blast in hand, theres probably some rusted bolts that you'll have to remove to get to your oil pan. youll also want to buy a new oil pan gasket, around $15 at an auto parts store. make sure you dont over tighten the nuts on the pan, probably around 10-15ftlbs is good, look up the specs if you want. gl
