Default Catalytic Converter Question

I've got a question about the stock cat. I want to be able to switch from a stock exhaust to a shorty with a Supertrapp that exits under the car when I autocross it. The easiest way would be to just unbolt the exhaust behind the cat, the problem is that the studs and nuts on the back side of the cat are VERY rusty and I think they'll and up breaking when I try to take it apart. Can the studs be knocked out and replaced if they break or will I end up having to drill them out and use nuts and bolts in place of the factory hardware? The bolts with the springs on them on the front are in good shape because they have been apart several times, it's just the back that is the problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

1. Spray liberally with PB Blaster (Stuff works wonders).
2. Tap lightly with a hammer.
3. Wait a few minutes
4. Try to remove nuts.
5. Repeat as required.

Good luck
