Default yet another muffler question.

currently i have some no name VERY LOUD straight through muffler.

the system i'm running is 2.25".

i'm just wondering if i can expect a noticable performance drop if i change from this muffler to a type-r muffler.

Slimbo~ Welcome, newbie! I know you'll find H-T.com to be an amazing resource. One of the first things you need to do is learn how to use the search function to see if you can get your question answered before posting something here. (https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch) Otherwise, you're likely to raise the ire of some of the more impatient types around here

To answer your question, swapping your current muffler with another is not likely to make any significant or discernable difference in performance, especially if all you have on the car is bolt-on modifications. The muffler is just one variable in the whole equation.

i don't think so...the type r muffler is pretty good. not a straight through design but a very good flowing muffler..

i should have worded it differently

but yeah, the muffler is the only variable changing here.
i have intake, headers, and exhaust all done, but the current muffler is giving me a headache.

but you hit the nail on the head. i just wanted to know how the type-r flows compared to the straight through

thanx!

slimbo...welcome first off.
I say do the ITR rear section swap out. The tip looks nice, its honda stuff so its good quality, and its quiet and an efficent muffler. However, if you are after a certain sound, shop around. Lots of other great companies out there such as Greddy, HKS, etc. etc. Good luck.

I just installed a Type R catback exhaust on my '01 GSR.

I'm happy with the results of the upgrade...

It's not too loud under normal driving situations, but under a heavier throttle or WOT, the exhaust note is much more noticable..

It's deep. Nice

sounds good to me

the current muffler i have is a loud biatch.
super super loud, louder than an N1 under WOT.

if i do it in a tunnel, i'll get pulled over for sure.
i hate it.
