Sat on an 05 Gixxer1000 today.
Holy cow.
The seat is so small, shrinking the feeling of the bike considerably. Until you sit on it, there is no way to possibly appreciate the slimness of this machine.
It felt surprisingly light, too. Just sitting on it and moving from side to side a bit was incredible. Immediately afterwards I sat on smaller bikes such as the '05 600RR and the '05 GSX-R750, and they felt positively huge and heavy by comparison.
If the bike rides as small as it feels at a standstill, it's going to raise the bar yet again for the other manufacturers. I was just amazed.

I was just checking one of those out at the dealership today, definitely a nice bike, I'm not crazy about the rear section or the dirt bike exhaust, though I'm sure it would be on hell of a ride.

Me too. As much as I love Honda, the 1000RR is going to get owned in the showroom this year. The only thing that will help matters is that fancy paint.
The R1/Gixxer1000/ZX-10R are just too strong.

It would seem that Honda is losing their edge; they have the highest prices without delivering class winning bikes which is not how it should be.
