Is it smart to tune a 2000 gsr with just a vafc?
2000 gsr...basic bolt-ons...maybe a skunk2 intake manifold in the future....would it be smart to have the car tuned on the dyno with a wideband o2 sensor and just a vafc-II??? cuz with the vafc i dont have to convert my ecu..it works with the 00-01 gsr's....but if it is tuned right...will i be able to get some power outta it? Thanks!
You'll be able to get a couple horses out of it, but for less money you can get a socketed P28 and a conversion harness. Then take it to a dyno where someone can put together a map for your car. I'm guessing you'll have no more than $350 in it if you do it this way.
A dyno is out of the question for me so VAFC is the way I went. With my wideband I can set it right where I want. The down side is that you can't change the timing, but unless you're making considerable numbers over stock, it may not be necessary.

u cant use the p28 without the skunk2 manifold because it wont open the butterflies, but for now a vafc would work now
