Day after USGP
Got my USGP tickets the other day, and recieved a letter with them saying that if you buy tickets for next years race the Monday following the race, you get to drive the track in you personal car. !!! Has anybody done this in past years? Is it at speed?? Should I bring my race tires?? Should make for some awesome in car video, even if you have to go slow. Hopefully I'll be there for that and the pit walk on Thursday.
I think theyve offered that in the past, but you had to DRIVE it on the Monday following the race (and Ive never been in town then)...at least thats how I read it.
Im am sure that you cannot drive it at speed, although that would rock! Me thinks we'd have to brake sooner than the F1 cars on the main straight lol.

Ya, we wish!
I drove the R out for the 2nd USGP, but had to be back home before the track laps. The 1st USGP, we had a winnie. Now I would have loved to hear some tires yell on that one!
It's purely touring laps, nothing to get real excited over. If you do it, just bring a vid camera to shoot while driving. It would be nice to do.

We did it two years ago when the race was in September and the drive was in May or June.
It's not any sort of a big hooplah. The average speed is probably around 35mph, and the fastest you ever get going is like 45mph to 50mph for short jaunts if you let the car in front you get far enough ahead of you.
The lines to get into IMS are really long, extending all the way down the side of the speedway along Georgetown Rd and around onto 16th street at the front.
When you're done with the drive you head into the infield parking lot. You typically see a bunch of Corvette or exotic cars grouped together in the parking lot and there's an exotic car show that goes along with the lap day behind the main straight's grandstand alley.
