Need some feed back
Alright, the time has come, the weather is warm and I am itching to get my 90 CRX HF running, and scootin. I've been after a good 'ol DOHC ZC for my CRX, but Hmotors is currently out of them and has no Idea when they will return, and in fear of using another JDM motor company, because of horror stories of missing parts, brokens snesors and all types of non-sense, I have opted to pick up their SOHC ZC and do a small turbo kit to make up and gain some horsepower. Im wondering if this is a wise choice, im looking to make about 150 to 160 HP hopefuly, which should get my completely and I mean completely stripped CRX moving quickly. Am I shooting for the impossible or am I making a wise choice on a small budget? Give me some feed back, opinions or facts about this set up or about another $1000 complete set up I might look into before I lay my cash down.
first off the sohc zc is just as good in my opinion as a dohc zc i've had a d16z6 and two dohc zc's and i liked them both equally. a turbo setup would be good for both motors but on a $1000 budget it's going to be hard for both. but if you want power on a small budget the sohc vtec is a good choice. another thing is that with a hf tranny it will bolt up but i recommend a si or zc tranny for the gearing with the haf it wont be as nearly quick as with a si i had a hf tranny on my d16z6 for a little bit and it would do 90 in 2nd but take forever to get there.
150-160whp is a realistic goal, actually it should be pretty easy as long as you have it tuned correctly. Its probably going to cost you more then $1000 for the homemade turbo and the motor. Because your going to have to pay for stupid **** like shipping. Your probably going to wait to run a si tranny or zc tranny so thats another $100 bucks. Others will chime in because some people on here have thrown together $500 turbo kits that run, but it all depends on who you know and where you can get the hook up on parts.
Yeah thanks for the feed back, I already have a SI tranny waiting for me and an PM6 ECU, I just need the axles and the motor, the turbo will hopefuly come by June if I get motor in this month. And if I tune it well, with the help of my friend mike hopefuly it will stay together and run hard.
