woopie... well okay so it was under these conditions:
BW config #1, fairly wet out. Doug in S2000 with (I think) R compound tires with maybe less than half thread, Me in 2002 M3 Convertable with some Continental streets tires. We both had a passenger. We're first out in the run group so I'm behind him... I thought he was sandbagging when he waved me by, then I got on it and never looked back. Later on he asked if I was driving the M. I said yeah and ask, did you have car problems? He said it was slippery, and he was trying hard to go fast... I jumped into my del Sol in the same session, 205/50/15 g-force T/A KD's with half tread left, indeed it was super slippery... the M felt much better, which I thought initially was very soft and had a bit of rolls but in the rain soft suspension is better.
Over the weekend I met Don Mock who is a SCal NASA PS2 and IT racer with his race CRX. He was doing 2:17 in the dry on Sat. In my last session on sat I timed myself, 2:19. I was pretty happy since I was on street tires, and I had a 175 lbs passenger. The car had mushy pedals making my braking in consistant. I think I can pull a 2:17 if I tried... The car has room for improvements. I can lower it 2" and that'll give better CG and some negative camber... i wonder how much better it would feel?? the car is firmly sprung but on transition it feels sloppy... old worn rubber bushing and soft chassis or?? Don's CRX is not sprunged much harder, he runs 450F 600R, although his car is a good 400 lbs lighter than my del Sol...
PS, for those who haven't heard of Doug he = Pulp Racing's NSX... he was doing about 2:14 in the dry on sat.
