Motorcycle security measures.
I remember seeing someone do this before, but does anyone know the type of motorcycle lock you would use to lock your bike to a tree or another non movable object? I remember the fella used two of them to lock his bike to a tree while it was sitting in a parking lot.

i use two of the Mastiff chains and lock my bike up to the pole in my apartment parking structure
there's no substitue for indoors/garage but i have no choice so i depend on these bad boys...i tried using a bolt cutter on one and it didnt budge so they'd have to be rockin' the sawzall if they want my ****...and hopefully someone will hear that and come outside or somethin'
BTW, they were about $50/pc.

no, but maybe this weekend i can snap a few pics
i started out with one of those cheap-0 $15 cable locks but it just doesn't look strong at all....that was my reason for sucking it up and forking out the cash for the massive chain locks.

Get some big lifting chains the warehouse guys use. You can get them from an industrial supply company. You can get pretty much any size you want. Put something over it so it wont scratch your bike. I wonder if this would work as well or come out cheaper than the stuff marketed specifically for security. Something like mcmaster item 5478T3...

they probably are better, and that was gonna be my first choice but.....i couldn't find a strong lock that was big enough to go around the size links i wanted
and you wont have to worry about your paint if you're just wrapping it through your front/rear rims

shiiit just yesterday i parked my bike for 5 minutes and ran into my mom's pad...came back and hopped on to find a rat chillin under my guage cluster
scared the **** outta me when i went to turn the bike on....it ran down into the engine and sat on the header...SOOOOOO i fired her up, gave a few 14K revs and watched the show...that rat must've bounced around inside my plastics for a good 15-20 seconds before it found an opening and dropped out hahahahah
downside is it smelled like burnt hair/skin for a good 5 minutes or so

Before moving to my place with a garage, I used to use a cable type chain to secure my bike. Through the rear wheel and front of swingarm to the front tow hood of my car. Just couldn't forget that the cable was there when backing out the car.
For those kind of situations you want to put a motion detection lock on there with an audible alarm. You wont be kicking yourself for doing something stupid that way. I've heard of people forgetting about their disc locks and causing damage also... audible alarms will prevent that.
