Default Brake Lamp light????

Ok, i've looked up and down in the Helms and i can't find a damn thing about this. My Brake Lamp light comes on when i start my car with my foot on the brake. But it doesn't come on when i start my car without hitting the brake. Brake lights are all working, i don't know if its the brake switch or not. Can anyone help me out or tell me where to look in the helms cause i'm at a loss right now.

Back from the dead.....

The 5th gen that I just bought 6 days ago started having a similar issue. For the first 5 minutes or so the car is running, and I am coming to a stop, my brake indicator in the cluster comes on, and goes away as soon as I get to about 15MPH. I just replaced the brake lights last sunday, and all are functional. I was thinking that it may be low on fluid, and reading the above posts seems to indicate that may be the case.....is this a fair assumption, or could it be a bad switch?

My car does the same thing but I'm too lazy to fix it

There is a brake lamp switch underneath the brake pedal.

If you have no lights out I can almost guarantree that's your problem.

You're thinking of the brake light, not the brake lamp light

really, i have the exact same problem like fly1865 have..."BRAKE LIGHT LAMP".....everything works electically, but now and then my brakes starts to sink down b4 i come to a stop. SCARY i know! i will sometimes pump it a few times to make sure i won't the guy in front of me. it seems like my master cylinder is messed up...correct me if i'm wrong.
