I'm at the process where i would like to paint my car and i was wondering what brand name paint do you guys use? I search in the comestic appearance forum and all i found was thread on "How the outcome of the paint looks". There isnt really any help on "How to" "Preperations" or anything like that. So i was just wondering what paint should i use? Engine bay is also being painted, so should i use some sort of High Temperature resistance paint for the engine bay. Let me know.!

i think you can get away with normal paint in engine bay, but for parts use high temp. and yes house of kolor is the best but prepare for some $$$$$


also search google.com, theres a good how-to on painting your own car if your into that that goes into the details of masking, prep, primer and all the good stuff, its kinda ghetto but its better than rattlecaninng it

PPG also makes excellent quality paint.

 

there's many brands of paint but it depends on your buget. PPG is good but if you want custom colors house of kolor and glassurit is good. if your on a budget you can try omni which is PPG's economy line. i personally shoot with PPG for oem colors and HOK for custom colors. i've shot glassurit a few times too. you don't need a high temp paint in the engine bay. prepping is the key for a good paint job. if you want to learn do some research on the net or go on paint forums. your can also watch how to paint videos. you can buy HOK at very cheap prices at http://www.smartshopperinc.com here's a link to a very good paint forum http://www.paintucation.com here's pic of a car i painted with glassurit. hope this helps!

 

For the engine bay Since it gets pretty "grizzy" in there, I'd reccomend "Diesel Paint"

i like to use du pont paints, eighther chroma premiere or chroma base, and if you wanto go a little cheaper but still good nason, in that order i like to go 2 stage instead if single stage, so you still have to choose what type and brand of clear coat you want. i some times go with nason clear coat whenever i paint cars it looks nice whener you wet sand and buff the car. just my 2 cents.

Yup Yup. that's what my crx is painted with. EPB. Sooo shiny.

Gun metal is a sweet *** color. Let me know if you have any more questions. I have a friend who does bodywork on show cars and this dude more than any I know knows what he is talking about.
