Default How to clean intake manifold

hey, this isnt really a question but a story of my experience. I am currently rebuilding a b18b and the intake mainfold was pretty well coated in carbon, i thought it was goin to be a bitch to clean. I was way off. I picked up a can of that STP throttle body cleaner and i cant praise it enough. The force from the spray alone ripped the carbon right off, mixed with a litle drying with a rag and the whole thing was like new in less then 45 minutes. I couldnt be happier with the results. Best 3 dollars EVER

Did you take off the intake manifold before you sprayed? If not did it take forever for the car to turn over after you sprayed it? I've used it on my TB and IACV and it took the car awhile to turn over. But god, you could see all of the buildup coming right off.

To clean my intake manifold I just took it off, covered it in dish washing detergent, and threw it in the dish washer. worked pretty good

Lol, I'd be more worried about getting detergent in my motor than eating off of plates with car stuff on them.

haha, first off this was for outside appearance. for the inside i did the same thing as you.
and i made sure i cleaned as good as i could before i put it in the dishwasher, so its not like loads of grease were coming off. as for detergent in the motor, i made sure it was all rinsed off.
