91 Accord ran out of gas
well i guess it did my gas gauge was low and while driving the car just died. I added gas and now the car won't start acts like it wants to turn over but not getting gas any ideas?
did you burn the pump up? I would never repeatedly run the car down to where the "e" is.
If it is your pump, you will have to pull the tank down to change it and that suxxors.
I fill my car once a week ( usually 1/2 tank) but I never let it get below 1/4 tank.

!!!!! what's the reasoning behind that.. i have heard people say that a few times but never heard a good explanation..BUT street racers try to keep it around 1/4 tank...lowers the weight..it's one of the little weight reducing tit-bits...
but seriously..why is 1/4 tank bad for the pump?

im guessing with less gas in the tank.. the more freely it can flow and while its swishing around when the pumps trying to suck up fuel its posible to takes in air instead.. iunno maybe air would be bad for a liquid pump...

i avoid letting mine go down pass 1/4 myself. one reason behind not letting it go below a quarter is because the pump sucks up any debris and what ever else crap may be in the bottom of the tank. not to mention you never know when she'll give on you.
the reason you do not want to let the tank go below 1/4 is the fuel pump is mounted vertically and the gas is what keeps the pump cool. Keeping the fuel pump cool helps it last a very long time.
sit outside near the rear bumper and have a friend turn the ignition but dont crank it. if you hear a buzzing sound your fuel pump is fine. i guessing since your car died it may have sucked up some debris like stated above. try replacing the fuel filter. good luck
u need a new fuel pump. sounds like the same problems i had w/ my car too. i usually TRY to keep my gas a little above 1/4 but damn, gas prices are ridiculous and its going to keep going up till i think the mid of april or may. i forgot but change ur fuel pump put in a full tank of gas and check ur gas gauge every now and then! good luck!
ive had my accord for 4.5 years now (2 with h22a) and my fuel gauge broke, but the light still works when it hits 2 gallons, i basically go every week until the light turns on and then some before putting more gas in, so if it hasnt died in 4.5 years with that routine, it cant be that bad for it, but mine could just be a fluke...
but definately go listen to see if u hear the buzzing sound, also replace the fuel filter (do this anyways since im sure it hasnt been done anytime recently...)
