Default Question about Accord aftermarket Headers

I've got a 96 Accord ex vtec with 105,000 miles. The check engine light is on. The shop ran it through the computer and it said it was a bad O2 sensor. I noticed that there was a large crack in my header, so i was wondering if this was the cause of the check engine light? Since exhaust is escaping through the crack, the o2 sensor might not be able to pick up the right mixture. Well this leads to my next question, i'm looking to change my headers to aftermarket ones. I've been searching for DC but can't really find any. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any other brands? such as obx? any good? and do they have carb numbers? One last questions, are all headers the same for 94-97 accord? I've seen some people say that dx and lx ones don't fit ex? Thanks for any help

DX and LX are non-VTEC and EX is VTEC .. so they use different header. Id recommend DC Sports or GReddy header. OBX is garbage. And the crack may very well be your problem.

the only difference between the dx/lx and the ex/se manifolds in the location of the o2 sensor......that wire can easily be made longer or shorter, so it doesnt really matter...if you really wanna save money, and want a slight upgrade, the f22b1 (EX header) is a decent upgrade, and its cheap

I'd just keep the OEM EX header on the car...thats the least of your worries making power.

Old cat could be replaced with a high flow or a test pipe and make more HP than youd see with a new header...hell new O2 sensors would even help...

So i'm basically back where i started at square 1. So has anyone ever tried putting a lx or dx header on a ex vtec accord? I'm just looking to replace my crack with anything that'll fit. I'm not too worried about performance, i just need to be able to pass smog. Also does anyone know if the obx come with carb numbers?

no what they are trying to say is correct

lx/dx
0 0 0 0
ex
0 00 0

but if you guys read his post you will see he already has a ex so the only thing he can upgrade to is a aftermarket header and i would rec greddy or dc sports

you should never downgrade your car like from a ex to a lx/dx

Yup...the flow is not as good. You can go to a junkyard or get an ex header from http://car-part.com or buy an aftermarket header.

I'm not looking to put a stock lx or dx manifold on my ex. I was wondering if the DC sport manifolds made for lx and dx will fit my ex. If i can't find a aftermarket one, does anyone know where i can get a used ex manifold in socal? Thanks

these guys have everything youll need but im not so sure about the prices but you can usualy bargain with them..

one other cool place i found was found in the same parking lot as

"Pick-A-Part Auto Dismantling
3333 Peck Rd, Monrovia, CA"

except if you go there drive to the verry end of the driveway and youll find a privatly owend auto dismantler i forgot the name.. but its at the very end.... those guys have everyhting youll need + a good price hope this helps

Sorry, but I am pretty sure that the F22B2 (LX/DX) has the same exhaust port spacing as the F22B1 (EX). Either way, while the EX's 4-2-1 design is a good budget upgrade for an LX or DX's 4-1 manifold, your best bet (aside from simply replacing the stock manifold) seems to be an aftermarket header. Get a stainless steel 4-2-1 for better low-end power. Since all of the 5th gen. Accords share the same exhaust port spacing, a header made for LX/DX will fit an EX, and vice-versa.
