i have 91 crx with a 91 si tranny and a 90 si axle
the axle goes half way in and just stops i have hit it and pushed and pull and yelled i have tired it all any suggestions?
when i feel the inside of the tranny after the splines there is a bar that goes like \ between the axles? is that right?
I had a 91 hf axle in the tranny for a long time is there a dif. in the 91 hf crx and the 90 si civic axle?

spline count only matters on the outboard side. i usually get the axle in the hub and the hold the hub like a steering wheel and ram that bitch in. you gotta get past the ring clip. try a rubber mallet. just keep the axle level when pushing on it.

it might not. go ahead and try it. someone can follow the trail of tranny fluid to come get you. if the axle does'nt seat you will lose fluid.
once again....shouldve bought mine....you know, i know where an 89 crx si just sits in a dudes front lawn....it'd be a shame if he lost them axles...lol j/k. You know, i could see if i can get the tranny off of him and we could try that. Hit me back to let me know

I had this problem installing my axles into a new gearbox. If you bang the hell out of it with a rubber hammer (not a real hammer) it will go. The rubber hammer won't do much if any damage if the two parts aren't supposed to go together (like a BFH would). Mine took quite a bit of force since the two surfaces were new.
it will fall out trust me it has happened to me 3 times in 2 days before. i ended up buying an axle from honda and it hasnt given me any problems since

This is the redneck way to do it, just like mr. carpenter explained, just a little more detailed. I popped the CV one time so be careful. Prolly not the best way, but heres how I did it on my ZC.
I hooked it up on the hub side, and then pushed it in as far as it would go on the tranny side. Then I grabbed the hub and pulled it slowly toward me like a half inch, (not too far as you can pop the CV joints out) and then rammed it in. I did that three times and it seated.
A little grease helps too.
