rough idle on a 93 ls
Hi
I have a 93 ls and i have been having some problems with the idle. The idle is pretty good when there are no electronic loads on but once you put the headlights on or any other load the rpms drop and the whole car vibrates pretty hard. I have adjusted the valves. Set the idle. changed the timing belt. Gapped the plugs, haven't set the timing again but with the limited amount of adjustment that it has i dont really see how that could be the problem. I thought that it could be a bad electronic load detector but from what I can tell this car does not have an eld. If anyone has any ideas please let me know
Thanks,
Steve

Ok tihs might sound a little weird but it is worth a try. Have you changed the fuel filter?? He is my reason. If the filer is clogged up you might not notice it under normal condotions. But when you apply a load to the engine at idle it needs just a little more fuel to keep at idle. If the filer is clogged up then it might have trouble getting just a little more fule through it. But once you open up the throttle it increases the fuel demand and the filter can handle that.
