SOHC TURBO or H22
which would you guys prefer? im not talking built SOHC, just a stock d16z6 with a decent turbo kit or a h22 with the usual bolt-ons. just blew my sohc for the 2nd time and want to know if its worth fixing it back up or just selling the whole kit for an h22. by the way this is for a 93 civic coupe.
just so you guys know i have a stock z6 block with a custom tubular mani, .60/.63 T3 w/ 3" dp, blitz fmic, zex 59300, port n polish head, act xtreme pp and high performance street disc, act prolite flywheel, y8 trans, hks ssqv, stock valvetrain, no exhaust (cuase thats how i roll). im running 11 lbs on uberdata. im having major blowby problems and wanna know if i should pull my head again (just pulled it 2 weeks ago to redo the head, blew my headgasket) to inspect everything or sell the entire kit and get an h22. thanks
well i have the sohc turbo setup on my car now and im in love with it but everyone is telling me to get rid of it caus it is nothing but problems. when its running right it pulls like a *****. ive gotten a number of wins under my belt that im proud of. i will smoke any b series car and even some h series. i basicly want something thats fast and reliable. im leaking oil from places i never knew i could.

If you've been having that many problems so often with you blown-D maybe you should change to something different. How much will you sell the turbo for do you think it will cover the price of the h.
if i can sell everything as a whole it will be enough for the h22 but the thing is once i put an h22 in my car, there is no going back to b or d series motors. thats why i gotta make sure thats what i want
Have you considered LS turbo?
You might be able to do that for the price of an H22 if you already have some of the turbo parts... and you can make good power with more reliability than a SOHC turbo...
Just a thought...

You are wrong. I have done an entire h22 swap for $2900.

Yup! If anything, go H22A, and if you still crave for more power, you can lightly boost it and get quite a lot of torque and HP.
If you go SOHC Turbo, once you're done, and you still crave more power, then what? You're stuck having to swap it out anyways or building the block, which gets $$$.
