Fastbrakes track tested...
Just got back from a NASA HPDE track event today...first time with the
fastbrake kit...
First impression:
There's still fade, even with the EBC Red pads and the basic rotor (non
slotted/drilled/two piece)...but, it's not nearly as present as with the
9.5" rotors. They grab incredibly well! There's some brake shudder at high
speeds... and the "hub centric" rings that come with the kit tend to come
off...making the rotors move slightly (not good)... I'll have to find some
sort of high temp sealant to hold the rings to the hub semi-permanently.
There was a 94? Civic hatch CX with a B18C5 and ITR 5lug conversion... I
could EASILY brake a good 20-40' later than him and still make the turn
without trying to prevent a spin/slide...
During the first warm-up lap, the brakes tend to fade, but, after warm
work magnificantly...with just a minute amount of fade noticable. The
track was kinda open and fast, not overly technical with drastic braking
zones...I'll get a chance to test them on a more technical course in
March.
oh, two E46s (nearly stock) got owned by a lowly CRX
and the B18C5 Civic got owned twice by a lowly CRX as well.

I was thoroughly enthralled by your post.. Thank
Very much appreciated..
Now I know what brakes to buy I'VE BEEN SEARCHIN! for weeks now!
I'm another one those "my car shakes when I hit the brakes" guys..

it's the 4 piston wilwood kit from Fastbrakes.com.
They cost about $700... the AEM i believe is $600 ish and uses your stock caliper. The Fastbrakes were the best brake kit for the money.
Check it out and tell Brian I sent ya (Kam).
