I bought this Del Sol two years ago hoping to eventually update it. I hate it's color and I am thinking of changing it. Do you guys recommend changing the color or does that just kill the value of it. The color is neon green. Thanks

I also forgot to mention, can anyone recommend any cure to the leaky roof. I went to the Honda dealer to replace the seals and they wanted $1250. Outrageous.
Is there any cheaper way? Can I buy the seals anywhere and replace them myself?

I recommend changing the color. That was the worst factory color for the Del Sol. As far as the leak is concerned u should shop around at other places for the seals. I also heard that it was possible to rub a small amount of engine restore on the seals because it causes them to swell up.

 

What's wrong with Samba Green?

 

Just because I am completely ignorant about cars, I am trying to learn more. I would like to change the color to black, but my friend was suggesting that I only paint it to a darker green like an olive color. This way when you open the door and see the inside color there will be no big contrast. When you paint the car do you paint everything or just the outside?

 

Black is a high maintenance bitch color. Swirls and scratches are much more noticeable on a black car. As far as the paint is concerned you pay for what you recieve. Some places will just do the paint outside without the prep work. It looks crappy a few months down the line so I recommend paying more for a good job and not worrying about it later on down the road. Go with white!

 

just paint the car to whatever color you like best. how much value the paint job gives to the car would depend on the quality and the person who would intend on buying your car.

Where do I get started with prep and priming it? This might end up being like a nightmare for me.

 

in your garage? start fixing dents and so forth with bondo and if need be weld in new pieces, then go to town with primer, scuff the old paint with 400 grit paper and do it in steps, do the fenders, then the bumpers et cetera so you have your car still to drive, but when it come to the engine bay let them pull the engine if you arent okay with doing that

I'd stay with the samba green, that color is not as common as a black Del Sol. Also, if you decide to change the color, make sure the engine bay, trunk, door jams, etc... match the rest of the car... For the targa seals, go here: http://www.slhondaparts.com
