Default How much did you pay for your leather coat / and or pants

well i think i might be upgrading to a leather coat with armor (over my textile t-dyno A*) and im just not sure i want to do it. Ive found a great deal on a nice teknic jacket for a little over $200 and some leather chicane teknic pants for a hair under $200. Seems like a pretty good deal, im just curious what everyone else has paid for their gear.

i understand some brands are better just trying to feel everything out. I do ride pretty aggressively at times, although im not some out of control nerd flying past you on the side of the highway. I'd love to take the bike to the track sometime, but w/ my busy schedule this year isn't looking so good, so hopefully next year. I'm not exactly sure what i would need as far as gear / bike mods, but i do know that both this jacket and pant combo has a full zipper combo makin it legal for the track.

what would you guys do? I have greater things goin on than motorcycles so I'd like to invest in some gear that would protect my *** if i ever went down. pick up the gear? Stay with textile and jeans? whatcha foo think?

here is the leather

and the pants

and what im wearing now

ps my coat is silver, and id probobly get the teknic silver as well...

I bought a cheap textile pants/jacket combo for $300 then splurged on my leather suit. It was about $1700 but it's fully custom and done by a local shop, Helimot here in San Jose. Worth the money.

Thanks,

They are Sidi Vertabra II's, nice boots but didn't offer much off the bike comfort. I switched to Daytona GTX boots which were great in both departments.

Thanks,

The suit it's self took about 3 months to complete, mostly from my problems choosing the final colors. Helmet gives you too many choices make the final decision so hard.

How about for a rookie rider? Would a pair of kevlar jeans, a good leather jacket, and some Timberland-ish boots be safe enough for street riding? I know ofcourse leather pants would be much better, but they aren't really that practical.

What is your guys' opinions on the best overall pant? Considering comfort, practicality, and quality - don't factor in the price tag.

Also, is it advisable to ride in Timberland type work boots? Do you guys ALWAYS wear riding boots when going out for a ride? Thanks for the help!

sorry to say, but that teknic jacket is awfully ugly, but that's just my opinion. i'd rather get the joe rocket (blaster 2.0?) jacket off ebay for cheap. those pants look good though.

My advice to you is try in the Teknic and get an Idea for your size.

I just pick up a perforated Teknic leather jacket off of ebay for $150CDN shipped. I've located a dealer in Vancouver that is liquidating their Teknic Thunder leather pants for $199CDN and I plan topick those up as well to zip them togeter.

All I need now is a good deal on boots and a pair of gloves...

Good luck...

I paid $800 for my 2pc Spidi Norick suit. Best money I ever spent on gear. Plus I got free Spidi XPD boots ( which I don't use), and free Spidi Carbosint gloves (which I don't use).

This is just my opinion and my opinion only.
Timberland-ish boots safe for the street? In my opinion NO.

Yes I ALWAYS wear riding boots (sidi vert 2's), in fact even when riding over to my brothers house, which is 5 minutes away I wear:
Arai Helmet w/ earplugs
T Pro Forcefield back protector
Spidi leather jacket
Gloves A*stars GP plus
pants of some sort ( I have First Geat HT Air overpants)
Sidi boots

EDIT: combined my two posts into 1
