Does anybody know anything on it? Difficulty? Labor time? I'm asking for everything I need to know.

Well the pricing of the K20a2 is round $5k. Like a B-series type-r, i figured the base si i-vtec swap would be cheaper.

well i can prolly get a A3 for 3500 (maybe) depends on the shop out here. But My friend has an EP3 Hatch with a si bottom end and a type-s A3 head. He makes 185whp and 140lb torque. it's pretty nice. But the A2 is 200whp stock, so thats what i'm leaning towrds. But If you can do some work for less $$$ then and gain big power, thats what i''ll go for.

Expect about $4k shipped for an A2 and NO MORE than $2k for an A3. (and I wouldn't pay more than $1200 personally).

Treat the A3 like a ready-for-boost motor if you want tons of easy power.

Even so, the cheap price and relatively easy availability of the A3 still make it a pretty good deal. It really is the most powerful engine that Honda's ever offered in a US-bound Civic. It just gets a bad rap because it's not the strongest K-series motor that Honda produces.

I'd still consider an A2 in my EP, though.

And that's exactly why I'm so surprised more people with late model Civic coupes and sedans aren't scooping up the K20A3 motors.

EP3 owners are investing in K20A2, K20Z1 and even K24A2 from that train wreck, and they basically don't know what to do w/their K20A3 motors and they're dumping them really very cheaply.

If you have a Civic EX or something, the K20A3 is really a very nice-driving motor that isn't going to cost you much at all. 160 HP doesn't sound like much in the performance world, but it's still a huge improvement in driveability over what they have, and it'll still get 30 miles per gallon.

^^^^ That, and the A3 is the perfect template for mild boost applications.
