My accord shuts off when I stop, need help!
I have a 94 accord LX w/ auto trans and in shuts off when I hit the brakes to stop. It starts fine, but idles a little high (about 1000 rpm), in all gears. It doesn't shut off when I go in reverse and stop. I've check all the vacum hoses and cleaned out the throtle body. Someone told me it may be the IAC but I don't knoe how to make sure. Anyone have any Ideas?
could be the fast idle valve. it attached to the bottom of the throttle body.
when mine went out, car would idle high at start up and once it turn off outta nowhere.

The FITV (like ogbusboy said) or the idle air control valve (AICV). That one's mounted on the back of the intake manifold. Either one can get full of crud so clean 'em. Then clean your throttle body, especially where the throttle plate comes against the throat when it's closed.
Then look for vacuum leaks & fix them. If it acts bad when you hit the brakes, maybe the brake booster is a vacuum leak?

take one of your spark plug wires out and put a spark plug in it. set on top of the valve cover and have someone try to start the car. if you dont see sparks, then ur dizzy might be dead. try replacing the cap and rotor 1st and if that doesnt help, replace the dizzy itself.
If your lockup does not disengage on your torque converter, the car will stall every time you stop since the trans puts a huge drag on the engine. East test is to remove the plug for the lockup on the tranny and take a short drive and go fast enough to get into 4th gear and then slow down. If the car does not stall, you found your problem.
