Aftermarket Shocks Required?
I know the obvious answer to this question, but I'm going to fish for comments anyway:
I have a brand-new 2005 CRV. Eibach Pro Kit provides a 1.2" drop. Is replacing the stock shocks a must?
My first preference would be to either install H&R OE springs (.75" drop) OR Koni Yellows. Unfortunately, neither are available for this particular model/year.

anytime you increase the springrate and decrease travel aftermarket shocks are a good idea.
in your case though, i'm not sure what options you have. maybe there are some cross-platform capatibilities that i wouldn't know about b/w crv's and some other honda chassis?

Koni is about to import the first shocks for the new CRV into the US. After we test fit them to confirm they work on US spec vehicles, they will become available. We have also heard that the Element is on th CRV platform and the same units may work for it as well but that is to be determined.
Since your CRV is brand new and will still have a bit more initial friction in the shocks, you will probably be okay for awhile with them and the Eibachs. Once they do begin wearing away the initial friction and the actual valving and wear become apparant, that is when performacne replacement units will be of greater benefit. Since it is so new, I wouldn't lose sleep that they are on stock shocks yet.
