Default Need input on purchasing a basic alarm system

I had a little run in with 2 theives tonight that involved me waking up in my car to two of them trying to break in.

Got me thinking about installing an alarm. I dont need much, I really only need a "panic" button so that it makes noise and will throw off novice guys looking for my sterio etc. Whats a good alarm for this simple purpose and how much does it cost with installation?

I would suggest a basic system (like Viper). It should run you about $250 installed. Since you sound like a rookie, so go to major stores like Best Buy where they can take care of everything for you. Or a good shop that is recommended.

I would also add the club - $25 and Autolock - $~50. They both saved my car when the @#$!%&X were able to beat the alarm. I lost my sound system, but still got the car. Pro job with almost no damage to the car.

I use a Prestige alarm with remote start, and i paided $280 in all. If u can do the wiring and installation urself, it would be alot cheaper.
