Default Help, Tranny question *Is a 93 LS tranny 5th gear same as 94+ LS 5th gear?*

I ask this question because I have a spare tranny(93 LS) that is messed (blown diff) and I wanted to put the LS 5th gear in a B16 tranny to save gas while cruising at highway speeds.

I know some people put LS 5th gears in their B16 tranny for the same reason I want to do it, just wondering if their is any difference, making it so it will not work. I don't know if the splines or anything are different.

According to allmotorhonda.com the gear ratios are slightly different (that is fine, because still will cruising at lower RPMs then the b16 tranny) just wondering if I would be able to use that on S4C tranny.

Thanks in advance guys,

-Scott

im pretty sure that the g2 ls 5th gear is shorter than the 3rd gens. i have friends with both and the g2 cruisin at about 70 is at like 3500-4k on the tach. the 3rd gen is alot lower on the tach.

I know the gen2 is gonna be shorter than the gen3 because I looked up the ratios, but my real question is, can I put a gen2 LS 5th gear into a 99/00 B16(S4C) I don't know if something like splines are different, or the rings are smaller or anything.

Thanks for the help though *DA6righthand*

So:
Question - Will the Gen2 LS 5th gear work in a 99/00 B16 tranny(S4C)
Reason - I want to save gas consumption @ highway speeds (lower RPM in the 5th gear)
Answer - ?

Thanks for the information, but maybe I am dumb but I don't see anything that the gears are interchangble from cable LS and a hydro B16. That link does have some good information, so thanks for the informative post

someone must know the answer to my question... I don't wanna tear apart a tranny just to find out it isn't gonna work.

BUMP for someone's first hand knowledge...

Yes, as long as the LS 5th is from a 92+ it will work in any 92+ B-series trans. The 90-91 Integra uses the same spline count as the 1st Gen. B16's.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for...I will have to check the year of the car, I think it is a 92 but I will double check.

EDIT: BOO, the spare tranny is from a 91 damn it will not work
