Best way to get old intake manifold gasket off?
Hi. I am working on a '92 GS-R. We have taken the Intake manifold off to replace the gasket. It has the original one on it and it has stuck to the manifold and a little bit on the head. I was just going to use a screwdriver or razor blade to scarpe it off and then use gasoling or Isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover gasket. Is this a good idea? or will the screwdriver scratch the manifold too much?
Thanks

soak that end in alcohol for a couple of days...it should easily come off when its done soaking. I wouldnt use a screw and hack that thing off because it will create a lot of scratches unless you dont care.
Go to the auto parts store and get some of these, way quicker and will not damage your head and manifold.

They also have a type of spray you can buy in a can that will eat away the old gasket and not harm the metal on the intake manifold or the head. You can probably pick it up at your local auto parts store. I have a can of it in my garage that is made by Permatex and is in a blue can...see if you can find it...it works real well. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes and requires minimal effort.
