Likes:
-Very comfortable seating position vs other 600's
-Excellent reliablity as expected from Honda

Dislikes:
-Not quite as quick as other 600's
-Feels heavier in the corners compared to my R6 and zx6r
-Styling is a bit out dated IMO

Btw my first bike was an F4i, great choice for a newbie. Ride safe and good luck.

No it's not a lot slower, infact if you're a newbie you probably couldn't even tell the difference. An f4i will be faster than anything you've ever driven trust me.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that it didn't feel as manuverable as my r6.

I've never ridden a 600rr so I couldn't really compare it to you but again I doubt it's much faster since most 600's are very close these days in terms of performance.

My good friend has an f4. Weve done a few pulls, just dicking around, and its pretty dead *****. I may have him from a roll because of the different power bands, I would definately recommend the f4i.

I think a mag did a write up of the f4i vs. RR and the f4i actually ran like .1 or .2 seconds faster than the RR. The difference between the 2 is the powerbands. The F4i is more linear(which is good for a new guy) while the RR comes in at about 8 and just starts ripping **** up.

Only real thing you need to look out for is the cam chain tensioner. The 2001 and 2002 (if i remember correctly) go bad after a few thousand miles usually. A manual tensioner is cheap and easy to install IF you have the tools to get into the tight space. Take a look at it and see if it has a yellow or blue paint dot on it. From what i know the upgraded ones have the dot to differentiate them.

An F4i is a great beginner bike. Like someone mentioned, to a newbie, it will be the fastest thing you have evern driven/riden. They are fairly quick and reliable. But like rioninja mentioned, the CAM Tensioner go bad every 7k to 8k miles. I know mines did when I first bought my bike at 5K and around 8K the damn thing start chattering. Easy fix. Someone else mentioned the bike being a little heavier on turns than other comparable 600 bikes but I don't feel that. What I did to my bike was lower the nose on the bike (to accomodate Vortex clip ons) and the bike seems to turn in faster and not as heavy. It basically feels like the RR in terms of ride heigh/lean angle. What I don't like about the bike is the ground clearence when leaning over. Newer RearSets would help this. Also the new rearsets would help the aggressive seating position. The rearsets would be higher and back...as oppose to a more straight up and down seating. But that is what makes the riding more comfortable. Also, they crash pretty damn well. Good choice in bikes in my opinion.

here is a pdf that compares the f4i to the 600rr in almost every way.

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/pdf/944/108682.pdf

imo, the f4i out of the box is a very well rounded bike. it is very forgiving, and stable at lean. you can modify the f4i to make turn-in much quicker by lowering the forks and raising the rear shock via washers. once you do this, the bike handles like many newer 600's.

I have one and this was my first bike...I drove for half of the summer and like it so far. Great noob bike but don't push your luck, learn how they ride feel first.

I agree to this very much ^

While it's slightly more wattered down than the RR.. it's still a 600 and it's got some good power behind it. You can't complain.

I crashed mine a couple months after I bought it. Gave it too much throttle rounding a corner in the rain.. it should be fixed soon. It'll be for sale shortly after that. I'm an adrenaline junkie though.. my next bike will likely be an R1.

why would you ask these questions about a bike after putting down a deposit?
