I think kbb.com would say thats a little steep, but its probably negotiable. I'd pursue it if you're looking for that kind of bike, maybe its a good learner...

I've got pretty good experience...but on bullet bikes, though. Would I regret going for a 600 on a street bike?

I'm a little concerned by your wording. "pretty good experience" could you describe that in better detail please? and bullet bikes, do you mean sport bikes or literbikes?

how long have you been riding, do you have your license? do the letters MSF mean anything to you?

I've ridden dirt bikes for 4-5 years (off and on), and used to ride my friend's F4 around quite a bit. I don't think my skill levels are quite up to the litre bikes yet. Anyway, I'm looking for a cruiser bike, so no stunts or 140mph freeway rides Just looking for something to take to my parent's cabin (4 hour ride) and cruise around in town. I'm also looking at late 90's Shadow 750 ACE's.

MSF -- Moto Safety Foundation? Not too sure.

my gf's dad had a 1997 virago 1100 special edition, and i learned on that... it was a great bike to learn on, a little bit heavy, and torquey, but it was a great bike, he just sold it with a corbin seat and full vance and hines exhaust (and jet kit) for 3500 i believe....... just food for thought, there are better beginner bikes out there for less money, and better deals on viragos are out there, if thats ur cup of tea....... i'd much rather learn on a 4 cylinder than a twin... i also learned on a 1980 something yamaha maxim 400, 650, and my fav was a 550 maxim..... the 550 ran like a champ, was quick, had a power band, and was a GREAT bike to learn on, and you can pick one of them up for around 1k or less......

the motor on a virago is hard mounted on the frame, which means at anything over 60 mph u shake a lot... and for a 4 hour ride... i doubt its a great idea.... look around and keep posting questions, an educated decision is the best thing you can make,.... btw take the msf.. it pays for it self with the insurance reductions you will recieve, also get something with the ability to put a windscreen on it... on a 4 hour highway ride.. ur neck will thank you for it, i assure you of this

Thanks, *****.

What do you think about the Shadow 750? I'll check out the Maxims you recommended, but looking through the classifieds, I don't think I have come across any. Also, any other suggestions you got? Thanks.

i road a shadow 750 as a matter of fact.... it was a little bit quicker.. it had cobra pipes, seats, and some aftermarket bars and foot pegs... so its not a fare comparison.. it was much louder and a much NICER looking bike (they were drag bars and nice chrome pipes) it had a much more appealing look for a cruiser... but i never went FAST on it... never brought it over 50... it'd imagine in stock condition it would have been much better for an all around bike, my moms best friend has a shadow 750, and she had a virago prior to it.... shes in love with her shadow..... she takes it everywhere... she doesnt complain about anything on it.. so i;d say its a better bike than the virago... she liked the virago when she had it but after the shadow... she bitched about the virago.... as for vibrations and such im not sure.... havent heard any complaints in that area

hope that helps
