Default 4-6thou worn, 0.25mm rebore??

hi all

i have a b16a2 which some dweeb ran into the ground and now im left to clear up the mess. i have had the bores measured as 4 thou worn at the top and 6 thou in the middle. (the oil control rings stuck inside the piston - piston slap galore)

i pre bought some honda oversize 0.25 pistons with rings. two of the machine shops over here in england suggest that it will be pushing it to clean up the bore with a 0.25mm rebore. just wanted to know if anyone over the water had ever tried such a thing and it worked. i cant take these 0.25 pistons back and find it difficult to sell them, if i could i would prob get some 0.5mm Topline pistons.

any help greatly appreciated

yes .25mm over is best bet, if you didnt have anythign yet, you could use silicon content pistons which expand and can use up the extra 4-6 thou easily.

so have you managed to clean up a bore like this with 0.25mm rebore before??

them silicon pistons sound expensive, how do they work?

It might be a close call.If the shop tries to bore it they don't stand a chance. If they are willing to hone it the whole way it might make it.You are only talking .005" a side. The cylinder will be worn more on the major thrust side,so the wear is not centered with the rest of the cylinder. Some places will charge you twice if it doesn't clean on the first oversize and they have to go to the next size, most won't.

yea thats kinda what i was thinking,

will have to try and get rid of these 0.25 pistons and will prob order some 0.5mm topline pistons and rings from importperformance parts. they are good enough quality arent they?? (not done much modding to engine and CR is already raised with head skim)

cheers for any advice
