Default Can You Install Pistons With the Block Still in The Car?

Well i was thinking While i had the Head off my 98 Gsr and it going to be another week or so maybe if it was possiable to remove the pistons and swap em with some Usdm Itr Pistons? I heard you can remove them with the block in the car by putting 2 pistons in at once then roating the crank up then popping another 2 in is this possiable? any pros and cons as long as the pistons walls are in good shape? any help would be cool thanks.

Although it's recommended you bore/hone the block and you must do that with the motor out, you can just hone the cylinders with the block still in the car. If you have a lot of miles on the motor, then it would be better to bore it over and then hone the block. HTHs.

of course, just take out the crank and punch out the pistons from the top when the head is out, but would be better if the motor is out cause then you can make sure everything is right

This is just my perspective, but I always believe in doing things the right way the first time. Trying to take the easy way out to install pistons will show in the end.

heres the pros: easy, cheap, will blow up eventually. the cons from personal experience: specs 98 GSR totally stock block approx 25k on the motor with lots of high revs. bore is over factory specs on thrust side. under minimal specs on standard size. needs bored and honed for proper ring seat. do it right, dont b a cheapass. u do it cheap it will blow, then ur really goin to b pissed. then all u can do is blame urself. hows that for a few cons. sounds like the logical thing to do would b rebuild it properly.
