Default unplug injector for inspection

ok, i'm a chick...no flaming. lol
after failed attempts to pass inspection , i finally unplugged the #3 injector and passed the hydrocarbons with flying colors. a friend of mine tried the tune ups and such and to resort to the same, but unplugged his #1 injector. so my question is does it matter what injector you pull? i know its running on three cylinders regardless, but i've always heard to pull #3.
and has anyone tried rubbing alcohol in their gas tank?

i havent personally but seen it done. i feel sorry for anyone near the tail pipe while car is running.

i have never heard of unplugging the injectors but i guess that is because of it running rich?? and it kinda evens out

running rich? maybe...i know i did the tune up and changed the oil etc and still failed. but I though my cat. converter was bad and i was too cheap to buy another. lol. i've gotten new exhaust since then, so i'm curious if that was the problem.
thanks
