looks like the nipple they put on crv and ls blocks for the pcv system. I dont know why they put it on your block, since you already have it.. although, I know some people with really high output engines put 2 pvc systems on their engine.

thats what i thought it was, but anyway, another ? it looks like the fitting is bent down, think that it will matter any ?

Block looks good, but theres only so much one can tell through pics on an internet forum. You should at the very least take off the windage tray and inspet some portions of the rotating assembly.
Good luck with your project!

That is not a coolant line for the oil cooler. B16 blocks don' have oil coolers unles retrofitted. Anyway, that is a nipple for the PCV system. Look at the location of the nipple it is not tapped into anywhere near coolant flows.

No, its no a stock B16 block......what i was told is that:
-CTR pistons .25 over
-Knife edge and balanced crank
-New gsr bearings
-New rings
-New oil and water pump
-New seals
just a basic rebuild
in this pic here is the fitting supposed to be bent down like that......?

No, that is not supposed to bent like that. It looks like it is not threaded all the way in either. I see threads on the fitting and when installed you should not be able to see threads.
Just take that one out and go to Ace Hardware and find somethign similar with same threads. Cost you like $5 to fix. :-)

i thought all b-series vtec motors had oil coolers stock?

AFAIK only the b18c5's (and their jdm equivelant's) had oil coolers stock. However, i did see a b16 with one, but i thought it was retrofitted. This could be a very useful thread later if we can get some answers....

Not unless someone threaded one one there. Do you see one on the back of his block?
I don't. Someone in here has to know someone with a JDMB16 that can look for us real quick.
But even if this did have a oil cooler that fitting is still not for the oil cooler.
Both oil cooler fittings come off of the water tube on the back of the block and attatch to the oil cooler which is quite obviously absent from the back of this block.

The one i had seen before was a 1st gen as well.

Ok, all DOHC VTEC engines produced by Honda between 92-95 had oil coolers. They eliminated them for cost reasons for the 96 production year except on all ITR motors USDM or JDM.
1st gen B16A's had oil coolers. ITR/CTR had oil coolers. JDM GSRs had oil coolers. 2nd gen B16A's did not, they have a spot for the cooler in the block, butit's plugged. The nipple hanging off is for the PCV system, it goes into the black breather box that mounts on the back.

hey johnny. that nipple runs to the oil vapor tank at the back of the block...little black box (between pcv and block). motor projects are always fun.
