Default Test drove an R today...(long)

So after years of lusting over them, i finally got to drive one!
i am in Pennsylvania visiting some family, and the local dealer just happened to have one. (yes, i went nuts as we drove by and the PY caught my eye).
So my brother takes me over (in his 996 Aero) for a test drive. The salesman takes one look at the Porsche and decides we are serious enough buyers to let me drive it. I was impressed at his kowledge of the car, and it was nice to meet someone who appreciated that the car was stock instead of riced out. (he complained of ricers coming in and trying to test drive it, and told me i was the first one he actually let do it).
so i took it for a drive around the little office park area which had a few nice bends and no cops. so i finally got on it and................WOW!!!!!
the sound, the feel, everything was incredible. SOoooo much better than my old GSR and so much more than i expected!
The best part... my brother in the back seat actually remarked that the tightness of it reminded him of his porsche!!
I just got my WRX a few months ago........i wish i hadn't. (but it is more practical...so i keep telling myself).

Someone please buy this unmolested R!!!! It has under 30k miles, and is a CPO car. truly mint! (this is my dealership plug because i feel bad about going in and making them think i really was gonna buy it).

cliffs notes: test drove an R.....OMFG

Don't ever, ever, ever believe a single word that comes out of a car salesman's mouth. In fact, believe the exact opposite.

Other than that, you should buy it!

You wanna mention what city/dealer, since that was the point of the story?

Baierl Acura, Pittsburgh PA. (thieves dont F*in try it).

no the guy was really cool. he honestly appreciated the caR for what it was. he knew i knew about it so he didn't start quoting horsepower figures or anything.
he actually seemed annoyed at the ricer tire-kickers. He appreciated the fact that the car was stock and unmolested, and was very cool about letting me drive it, reiterating that since i was an autoxer that i should reallly appreciate the suspension and overall balance of the caR, and encouraged me to 'test it out a little'.

Salesman will attempt to become your best friend if you let them.....

That is until you buy the car and then they drop you like a bad habit

im a car salesman. does that make me a crap talker. i got a 98 white itr i just purchase a month ago with 51300 miles when i bought it never been touch and always maintain by an acura dealer. ive been selling cars for 6 years and been driving and modding honda for past 11 years. im currently working at honda store in s.kali and sold other brands beside honda. nothing wrong selling car and we dont cheat or lie to people that will be doing repeat business with us. anyway, if the guy knows his stuff. maybe he does. i got a general manager that still compete on scca and finance director that compete at nasa from time to time.
my point. some people will know there stuff even if they dont look like they do.

my experience with car dealers is... they tell you what you want to hear and don't mention things you need to hear....

i guess it swings both ways

I'm a service advisor at a Honda Dealership and honestly let me tell you the crap I hear come out of SOME sales peoples mouths when they are taking the customer on a tour of the dealership trying to sell a car. Not ALL salesman but most I have encountered will say anything to get the sale. Then I have to deal with it when the customer comes in for service and I have to tell them they are not entitled to what they were told.

Then again what am I talking about? Some Service Advisors aren't much better LOL

HAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry man. I've met some cool car dealers, but that doesn't mean I trust them.

it is currently "on sale" for 21k. it is a CPO car with warranty and low low miles.
As far as salesmen are concerned, i agree that most are ****** who just telll you what you want to hear. Im just saying that he was a cool guy who at least knew a little bit about the caR, not necessarily that he wasn't trying to tell me what i wanted to hear so i would buy the car. and talking about cheaters......i did go into the dealership knowing full well that i wasn't going to buy the car and spent at least a half hour of his time just so i could experience the R.

but in any case the point of this thread was not to bash salesmen, but to praise the amazing R.

You may not cheat or lie, but please do not make the general assumptions for the other sales people. 99% are out there to lie & cheat to get your sales.

So what if it has been modified?

If the work was done correctly then there is no problem - not like working on these cars is rocket science.

glad you enjoyed the ride. But no matter how much you wanted to believe the salesman respected the car or cared about you, don't. cause he was just kissing your ***.

It's funny how you guys say that the majority of salesmen lie... it works both ways, customers come to the dealership and lie to the salesmen as well... it's part of the game.

If you're referring to my car. Then, mine is 100% stock and never modded. If you want to bet your car on it, I'm game.
