Squeaking rear hatch/truck
The rear hatch on my '88 HF squeaks something fierce. It sounds like two squirrels having sex. When I lower the window to let air in or pull the trunk release on the hatch, the squeaking stops. Any ideas what the heck it is and how to fix it?

It might be where it hinges, It might be wher the Hydrolic acutaors are atached. it could be your weather striping. it cold be your interior trim. go in there. and tighten the **** out of the bolts\screws, and maybe give the Weather striping a spray of tire wet. see if itle help.
The hatch on my 88 does the exact same thing. I think mine is mostly the weatherstripping being worn out over the years. Oh well, can't really hear it over the exhaust that is on the car now, but once I get another exhaust system, I'll try to fix the rattle.
hell yea i got the same problem.. and the worst part is i don't even have a radio or speakers in the car yet so i gotta deal with it for another few days even tho its been like that for like months now haha.. it drives me crazee!!!!

also... wouldnt tire wet wind up drying it out in the long run aside from making it disgustingly greesy?
how about meguires tech protectant crap for plastics vinals and rubbers?

if it is your hatch that is squeeking here is what you do.
take some electrical tape and put a thin layer on the latch (u bolt thingie)
30 second and a piece of tape make a big difference

FYI...The best stuff for lubricating and cleaning all rubber seals on a Honda/Acura is available at the dealer for @10.00 or so...Its called <FONT COLOR="red">"Shin-Etsu"</FONT> grease...basically its like white silicone spray but in a paste form...You clean sun roof seals with it, window run channels and NSX and Del-Sol top perimeter rubber seals and best of all it deepens the black and lubricates the rubber and doesn't promote static electricity which is how the seals get so dirty in the first place. try it. You will not be disappointed.
The piece of tape works. My Bro in-Law (94 teg gsr) and I (90 CRX) rock the electrical tape. It's a cheap fix, and you don't have to worry about getting grease all over everything, or weather of not the rubber is going to dry out and crack. You can't beat 99 cents for two rolls at the dollar store. That's 99 cents for a whole hell of a lot of piece and quiet. Not to mention that it shut my Fiance up.
