How do I remove g3 power antenna?
Argh, I need help.
The power antenna from my 94 Integra LS is making sounds whenever the antenna is raised or lowered. It works fine, but makes about 5-6 clicking noises when done.
Upon searching HT archives, and talking w/ the Acura dealer service reps, I learned that I could fix this by replacing the mast only ($40 vs $2xx for new assembly).
So I picked up the mast from Acura tonight and set out to fix my problem. (nothing better to do on a Saturday night, haha
)
So far, I've removed the little silver collar which surrounds the mast by tapping it w/ my screwdriver and hammer and I'm ready to swap masts.
Here's my question:
How do you remove the mast itself???
Do you just YANK really hard? (<-- according to the Acura service rep)
Or is there some nut holding it from the inside, and if so, where?
I took a picture of my current situation with my trusty digi-cam.
Thanks for ANY help. I'm sick of watching tv and studying and it's raining outside...I'd really like to fix this stupid clicking antenna
ps: I've already read through the b-series.net s2k pages, and searched the HT archives, but didn't find anything which helped me on this specific step, so sorry if this has already been asked before, I couldn't find it.

Once you remove the silver collar (hold the antenna in) then have someone turn on the radio, and pullhard on the antenna.
It will come out. Once out, inspect the white gear line. Make sure it's not broken at any point. If it is, you'll have to take the antenna out from inside the car, and have it cleaned out. (broken pieces)
Other than that, it's an easy install.
Oh, right, to put it back in, have someone turn off the radio, and it will draw the gear feed line into the motor assembly.

Sorry, I'm a little bit confused here.
Which silver collar are you talking about? The little "nut" that has the 4 slots in it, or a different piece altogether?
Thanks!!!

I have a related antenna Question. I have a 95 GSR and the antenna won't go up or down. I hear the motor working but nothing happens. I pushed the antenna down a little bit to see if it might "catch" or something, but all it did was make a long grinding or clicking sound. So I pulled it back out and know it stopped the sound but it still doesn't work. Do I need to take my inside panal off and reattach it or something????

You need to take your antenna completely apart. It sounds like your antenna cable broke inside the motor.
You'll just need to replace it with a new mast, and clean out the inside. It takes some time to do, but it's not that hard to do.
