Default first bike, no key

Hey guys Im new to the motorcylce thread, I just picked up a 1981 cb650 from my cousin last week. Its nothing special but it runs and i got it for free. My question is how hard is it to hot wire a bike. The reason I ask is because my cousin lost the key and I don't want to buy a all new ignition becasue it wil only be parked in my garage. Im not expecting it to be easy but i was wondering if any of you have any expirience.

TIA

Try taking it to a locksmith first, they probably can cut out a new key for you.

Did you ever think of just going to the dealer and giving them your VIN? They should be able to cut a new key by the code they get from you VIN. Probably five bucks.

would i need to show the locksmith or the dealership proof of ownership because they lost the title aswell. They are going to get a new one, but until then I would still like to ride, because its realy nice out.

Riding a bike with no title or key ranks pretty high for Bad Decisions of 2005.

in my defense it would be on a road with no through traffic, up and down a small portion of a street. It has a title under there name it would be as if you borrowed you friends car. the only thing illegal would be lack of insurance. I know its not the smartest desision but im really excited.

why does it matter if its shady, or perfectly sunny, will some body help me hotwire this bike. If I was going to steal a bike it sure as hell would not be a 81 pos, it would be something expensive that could part out. And what kind of **** head would steal a bike that doesnt know the first thing about hotwiring and then talk about it on a forum, and keep it in his parents garage.

Ahh, the old inline four CBs. Man, what are you guys talking about? Those were some badass bikes in their day! Dead reliable.

Back when men were men, and bikes were bikes!

Those bikes were incredibly easy to hotwire. If you just took a look at the ignition, im sure you can figure it out

here is a hint...
You need a wire with current.... to connect with the wire that fires the engine up....
